Mr. Anthony D. Marshall convicted

October 8th 2009 Mr. Anthony D Marshall son of Brooke Astor was convicted of two first-degree grand larceny charges. The jurors agreed that he gave himself an unapproved raise of 1 million dollars and had his Alzheimer afflicted mother sign a codicil to a will that let him bequeath the money he inherited from his mother to his wife whom his mother disliked.

The trial ran 5 months and was only expected to last 2-3 and Mr. Marshall was ill throughout. He was stoic until his twin boys testified against him and he cried in the hallway. One of his sons started the proceeding by filing a guardianship petition accusing his father of not taking care of Mrs. Astor
