Public Defenders Are Not Always Free

The article state while most people believe that anybody that can not afford a lawyer will be appointed one, it is not true in at least 13 states. Additional fees and penalties may also apply after the sentence is served like the inability to vote.

However president of the National district Attorneys Association told USA today that almost none of the people criminally charged got to jail so they should be able to get jobs and pay it back easily.
